In the spring of 2016, I made the decision that I was tired of working in the larger healthcare systems. I had spent roughly a decade working as an RN in numerous hospitals with acute and chronically ill patients. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. However, during that time I remained academically motivated and moved into a new role as an APRN after graduating from Farifield University. I immediately began working in an Urgent Care eventually taking on my own Primary Care patients after recognizing the growing disparity. I had also missed the relationships that were built and only attainable through continuity of care.
As time went on I continued to have the growing desire to open an office of my own. I have always embraced this entrepreneurial spirit and finally decided it was time. In the summer of 2016, I opened up Mystic Medical Associates located right near downtown Mystic. Located in the Packer Building I spent 7 years growing my practice. During this time we expanded the office with growing services to meet the demands of our community and patients.
In the summer of 2023, the decision was made to start looking for a new office with larger space. After searching far and wide we found our new location on the Gold Star Highway in Groton on the first floor in suite 112. This space needed a complete renovation which was completed in December of 2023. On January 1st of 2024 we moved in and began getting back to work.
Its been hard work starting a private practice and maintaining it but I truly love what I do. I enjoy solving problems and helping people feel better mentally and physically. Our goal is to deliver quality care that is affordable without rushing you out the door.
Lets face it, health insurance is something we all need. There are certain situations in which having health insurance will benefit you, but I dont think its the solution for achieving your optimal state of well being. If your paying for a plan then you have coverage for all sorts of benefits such as surgeries, medication costs, labs, imaging stuides and even office visits. But if health insurance is so good why arent there more primary care clinics accepting insurance? Even more, why arent there more private practices opening up? Unfortunately with each passing year it seems health insurance costs increase for the consumer yet reimbursement from the insurance companies is lagging. The added administrative burdens of dealing with insurance is also time consuming. I have found that in most cases people with insurance avoid seeking medical care even with insurance. Health insurance should be considered a tool that when utilized in certain conditions will provide improved access to services and reduce cost for the member. However, my goal is to provide something above and beyond what insurance covers.
Eliminate the hassle of worrying about what its going to cost you to come in. Experience all inclusive care for one low monthly price. Dont worry you can still use your insurance for everything else such as labs, imaging, and medications.
